Our colleague Vicki Sukeena is wearing pink with a new purpose. She’s now a breast cancer survivor and has a new passion to urge others to get screened. “Early detection is vital to a positive outcome.”

Vicki is the director of our lab services. She says she is incredibly grateful for the compassionate care she received from the team at West Valley.

“The entire team made me feel comfortable and cared for throughout the entire process," said Vicki.

It’s a process that takes a toll on the entire family and her husband Curt was equally thankful for the team at West Valley, “When you hear the diagnosis of cancer given to your wife and best friend of 36+ years it is unimaginably scary. That said the West Valley Medical Center staff was also unimaginably professional and caring,” said Curt Sukeena.

Vicki is thrilled to report she is now cancer free and hoping her story inspires others to be proactive. “Currently 1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. The vast majority of these are not genetic. If the disease can be detected early through mammography screening, the chances of survival is incredibly high. I want to challenge women to not put their annual screenings off. The time it takes to have the testing done is worth it! Make your health a priority and schedule your annual mammograms.”

Schedule your 3d mammogram today at West Valley by calling (208) 455-3905.
