HCA Healthcare Mountain Division colleagues volunteer over 700 hours in one month
Salt Lake City, Utah — HCA Healthcare’s Mountain Division — comprised of eight hospitals in Utah, two hospitals in Idaho and one in Alaska — showed up for residents in all three states in April 2025 during the annual We Show Up for Our Communities days of service month, which coincides with National Volunteer Month.
More than 700 physicians and colleagues from each of the three states volunteered through 129 nonprofit and partner organizations to meet the needs of the communities where they live and work. Colleagues in the Mountain Division recorded nearly 1,700 hours of volunteer time in just 30 days on a variety of projects supporting high-priority community needs.
Colleagues stepped forward to provide for the immediate needs of Alaskans, Idahoans and Utahns, along with their families, through the collection of more than 3,700 diapers, in sorting and assembling over 2,500 hygiene and maturation kits, and by donating 85 units of blood.
The annual event is meant to unite colleagues across HCA Healthcare and the Mountain Division and invest in the towns and neighborhoods served by each of the division’s 11 hospitals. We Show Up for Our Communities is part of HCA Healthcare’s enterprise-wide focus to improve more lives in more ways.

- 710 colleagues logged volunteer hours
- 1,680+ volunteer hours logged
- 129 nonprofit organizations served
- 60+ team volunteer events coordinated in Alaska, Idaho and Utah
- 85+ units of blood donated (enough to help more than 225 people)
- 2,575+ hygiene and maturation kits assembled
- 25+ packs of diapers collected, totaling approximately 3,750 diapers
- Five nature clean-up projects

Showing up for communities
HCA Healthcare is proud to partner with community organizations and institutions to build a diverse pipeline of future healthcare workers, ensure access to mental health resources and build strong neighborhoods in Utah, Idaho and Alaska.
- We Show Up for Mental Health — According to the National Alliance on Mental Health, 17% of youth (six to 17 years) experience a mental health disorder. We are proud to have partnered with EVERFI, an international technology company driving social change through education, to launch “Understanding Mental Wellness,” a digital course that introduces middle and high school students nationwide to mental health education.
- We Show Up for Future Healthcare Professionals — First grade students from Canyons School District’s East Midvale Elementary in Utah learned about careers in healthcare by participating in a free, hands-on course in nursing careers at Galen College of Nursing’s Draper campus where they got a closer look at emergency care and labor & delivery specialties. Volunteers also assembled lunches for participating children.
- We Show Up Every Day — Additional local organizations supported during the We Show Up for Our Communities events include the American Red Cross to support the lifesaving work they provide, Wasatch Community Gardens to increase healthy food access and address food insecurity, and The Other Side Village to provide permanent, supportive housing for individuals transitioning from chronic homelessness.
