Cardiovascular Health

Cardiac And Pulmonary Rehabilitation

This program is designed to help people with cardiovascular conditions or chronic lung disease, including those who have had heart procedures or surgery, achieve the optimal level of health and fitness.

Phase I

The start of your rehabilitation care takes place while you're in the hospital recovering from a cardiac event, pulmonary episode or other related conditions. Upon your physician's request, a cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation team member will consult with you regarding educational materials on your health condition and present options for continued cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation in Phase II and Phase III programs.

Phase II

The second phase of treatment can begin as early as two weeks after you've been discharged from the hospital. This phase continues for approximately 12 weeks and consists of:

  • Two to three supervised exercise sessions per week while wearing a cardiac monitor
  • Various activities, including treadmill walking, stationary bicycle riding, arm cycling and strength training
  • Instruction on stress management, nutrition, lifestyle changes, medication review and compliance, and cardiac and pulmonary disease

Phase III

After the Phase II program, with your physician's approval, you may choose to continue in Phase III of the cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation program.

Insurance

Our Phase II cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation program is medically prescribed and supervised, so fees are covered by most health insurance plans. The Phase III program is a self-pay process at a nominal fee for each session.
