Diagnostic Tests

There are many different reasons why you may need the diagnostic tests listed below. Some of the reasons include assessing why you are having chest pain, palpitations, fainting, shortness of breath or heart murmurs. These tests also may be performed if you have a known history of or a family history of heart disease. Here's a list of some of these tests

  • EKG  Traces electrical activity of the heart to diagnose irregular heart beats and heart disease.
  • Holter monitoring  Continuous 24-hour monitoring of the heart recorded digitally and then analyzed by our professional staff and physicians.
  • Echocardiogram - Also known as an Echo, this uses ultrasound waves to assess and determine your heart's size, strength and structure.
  • Exercise stress testing  Including a nuclear medicine test (myocardial perfusion scan) or Echo imaging  Exercises the heart with medication or walking to evaluate the heart function while under stress or exercise.
  • Transesophageal echo  Places an endoscopy tube down your esophagus to your stomach and uses Echo to image closer to the heart for specialized imaging.
