Pharmacy Services
West Valley Medical Center’s Pharmacy provides inpatient pharmaceutical services with a staff of highly qualified registered pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy is extensively automated, utilizing McKesson Acudose Systems. We also use a system of barcodes that compares the physician ordered prescription with the drug item and the wristband assigned to the patient. This process of medication reconciliation dramatically reduces the possibility of medication errors. West Valley Medical Center is one of only two community hospitals in Idaho to use this level of technology to make your stay safer. Patients have realized excellent benefits from this program.
We employ a full-time clinical pharmacist whose focus is medication safety, discharge planning, and patient education regarding drug therapies. Any questions or concerns regarding medications can be answered during your visit. If you wish to speak to a member of the pharmacy staff, please ask your nurse to contact us. We want to ensure you fully understand the reason for your drug therapy and that you can and should be actively involved in the decision making process.
The pharmacy is open from 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. on weekends and selected holidays. However, please note that we do not provide prescription service to the public.
West Valley Medical Center also houses an Anti-Coagulation Clinic in conjunction with the St. Alphonsus pharmacy team. This service provides individualized dosing and patient education regarding the proper and safe use of these types of medications. Your physician can refer you to this service or you can access it directly by calling 455-3726.
