134 turkeys donated to local charities

Charitable organizations feel strain of holiday season

CALDWELL, Idaho – West Valley Medical Center recently was honored to contribute 134 frozen turkeys to the Salvation Army in Caldwell and the Calvary Holiness Church Pantry in Wilder — especially as these groups and others feel the immense strain of expanded need this time of year.

Requests for aid always increase during the holiday season, but with the added impact of the current economic climate, demand is even higher than usual.

“West Valley Medical Center has a responsibility to help make this community a great place to live,” WVMC CEO Julie Taylor. “Part of that is looking out for those facing difficult circumstances. Our role in meeting those needs is very important to us.”

The hospital also held a drive that yielded two barrels each of coats and food for the Salvation Army in Caldwell.
