In 2007 the Centers of Disease Control reported that more than 60 percent of Idaho adults were considered overweight. Among this group, 22 percent were obese - more than 75 pounds over their healthy body weight.

Idaho children are not immune from these statistics; 12 percent of them were overweight. So don't feel alone if you are among the many Idahoans struggling to control weight.

Being overweight or obese negatively impacts people's health and significantly increases the risk of chronic conditions including type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, certain kinds of cancer, and cardiovascular diseases such as high blood pressure and stroke.
